Seems that everyone has a blog these days. Not that it’s a bad thing. Blogging gives everyone a voice on an international platform. If you have something to say, there is likely someone somewhere wanting to read it. From my 9-year-old nephew, Hudson, and his food-critic blog Hudson Eats, to blogs about electronics, babies, food, social media, airplanes and even blogs about the things people carry in their pockets (yep, I found it – it’s called Everyday Carry), pick a topic and there’s an expert or an obsessive in every field.
Having little spare to time for reading-for-pleasure, I limit myself to those blogs I really, really love (but I must admit, I have accessed many great blogs in my research & information-gathering). One blog wins hands-down every time, and it’s the only one I actually subscribe to: My New Roots. Pretty sure I’ve talked about this one before, but I’m just a little more than obsessed with it! Author, Sarah Britton, is a holistic nutritionist and chef living in Denmark, and what she doesn’t know about food you could write on a grain of quinoa.
My New Roots is described as “ an award-winning blog that has become an online destination for foodies everywhere, not only for its one-of-a-kind recipes, but also for its amazing nutritional information and mouth-watering photography.” With a goal of “educating others to be an active participant in their own health and healing”, this blog shoots for the starts, and hits them every time.
I am completely inspired by the recipes, the information, the writing style, the photography. This is the blog that started me on my raw food journey (it’s a part-time journey at this stage), and motivated me to find new ways of doing things, to see things differently, to try new things, to grow more of my own food and to shop differently.
Pretty sure I’ve fallen in love (sorry, Peter) if my sweaty palms and increased heart rate are any indication.
Now your turn. What’s your favourite blog? I’d love to hear about it…
